USDA announces $1 billion for CFAP 2 payments for contract growers

August 26, 2021

Oklahoma livestock and poultry producers who did not previously qualify for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 can now apply to receive aid.

With up to $1 billion made available through the Consolidate Appropriations Act, coverage has now been expanded to include chickens, poultry eggs, turkeys, hogs and pigs, ducks, geese, pheasants and quail including eligible breeding stock and eggs of all eligible poultry types produced under contract.

“We appreciate USDA recognizing the incredible losses farmers endured during the height of the pandemic,” said American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall. “When restaurants and schools closed, the demand for fresh food disappeared almost overnight. While previous CFAP funding addressed many losses, AFBF recognized that contract growers were left out and worked with lawmakers and the administration to ensure all farmers’ voices were being heard.”

Livestock and poultry producers who experienced financial losses from Jan. 1, 2020, to Dec. 27, 2020, are encouraged to apply.

New or revised CFAP 2 applications are due by Oct. 12. For more information, contact your local Farm Service Agency office.
