OKFB women bring farm message to OKC-area students
Members of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee shared the farm and ranch story with third- and fourth-grade students during Super Ag Day held May 6 and 7 in Oklahoma City. The WLC members used the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation’s commodity trailer to share with students how food gets from the field to consumers’ tables. YF&R Golf Classic postponed, rescheduled for July
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Golf Classic scheduled for Friday, May 8, has been moved to Thursday, July 9, due to unfavorable weather conditions. The scramble-style tournament will be held in conjunction with the summer YF&R conference. The Golf Classic will still be held in Enid. Registration for the tournament will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with tee-off at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided throughout the day to golfers. Inhofe, group of bipartisan senators introduce Federal Water Quality Protection Act
Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, along with senators John Barrasso (R-WY), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Pat Roberts (R-KS) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), introduced bipartisan legislation yesterday that would protect non-navigable waters from regulation under the Clean Water Act. OKFB Youth Safety Day coming June 4
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee will hold its first-annual Safety Day Thursday, June 4, at the Oklahoma Farm Bureau home office in Oklahoma City. The program is for students 12-17. Participants will learn about ATV safety, fire safety, vehicle rollovers, DUI prevention and more through a series of hands-on training and experience. Oklahoma House of Representatives approves amended Right to Farm resolution
Today the Oklahoma House of Representatives overwhelming approved Senate amendments to HJR 1012, Right to Farm. The vote was 85 to 7. “We are extremely pleased with the vote,” said Tom Buchanan, Oklahoma Farm Bureau president. “We applaud State Rep. Scott Biggs and State Sen. Jason Smalley for their leadership and tenacity guiding this resolution through the legislative process. Oklahoma FFA members donate animals to help feed hungry children
Oklahoma FFA members donated 347 animals between May 1, 2014, and April 1, 2015, to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Members of 172 FFA chapters donated the animals as part of the FFA Hunger Challenge presented by the state FFA officer team. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma was able to make 506,996 protein sticks from the animals donated. “The results on the April 1, 2015, deadline were a huge success by any measure. OKFB Women take country cooking to the Capitol
The annual Farm City Festival, hosted by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee, gave state lawmakers a taste of country at the state Capitol on Tuesday, April 21. The OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee, consisting of rural women leaders from throughout the state, used the Capitol’s first floor rotunda to set out a spread of freshly prepared food, much of it home-baked, for the legislators.
