OKFB examines rural representation in newly proposed legislative districts
Newly proposed state legislative districts released Wednesday will help ensure rural Oklahoma’s voice is represented in the decade to come, according to the state’s largest general farm organization. OKFB Foundation for Agriculture launches watermelon challenge for students
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is encouraging second-grade students across Oklahoma to participate in its watermelon challenge. Legislative update: Progress on ag sales tax exemption, nuisance, trespass bills
Legislators last week met another deadline at the state Capitol as bills were required to pass out of committees in the opposite chamber of origin. Oklahoma Farm Bureau saw progress on a number of bills including legislation regarding the agriculture sales tax exemption, nuisance claims and trespass law. Since early on in the legislative session, Farm Bureau has tracked HB 1682 by Rep. Jim Grego and Sen. Mark Allen which would have prohibited the requirement of a Schedule F form to determine eligibility for the state agriculture sales tax exemption. More than $20,000 donated through OKFB’s Community Food Assistance Matching Program
More than $20,000 was donated to food banks, food pantries and other food assistance programs across Oklahoma by 40 county Farm Bureaus and county Women’s Leadership Committees as a part of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Community Food Assistance Matching Program. Private pesticide applicator license new testing procedure
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is now requiring all testing for pesticide applicators to be closed book and proctored following the 2017 revision to the Code of Federal Regulations part 171. Those who apply or supervise the use of restricted use pesticides, including agricultural producers, are required by federal law to be certified, but those who apply general use pesticides do not need a license. Private applicators are those who uses or supervises the use RUPs to produce an agricultural commodity on land you or your employer owns or rents.
