The Oklahoma Farm Bureau state resolutions committee met Oct. 18-19 in Oklahoma City to review, condense and organize resolutions for its 2017 policy book. The meeting served as one of the final steps in the organization’s grassroots policy development process. OKFB to host Flapjack Fundraiser at annual meeting
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is proud to host the Flapjack Fundraiser at its annual meeting on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 a.m. in the Cox Convention Center. Proceeds from the breakfast will go to the Bushels for Books Program, a partnership between the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation and the OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers. The program will provide bushel baskets full of accurate agriculture books to teachers from five Oklahoma schools. Susie McEntire to return to OKFB convention to speak, sing during worship service
Susie McEntire, country gospel singer, will entertain members again for this year’s 75th Oklahoma Farm Bureau Annual Meeting memorial and worship service. Returning for a second year at the OKFB convention, McEntire will speak during the memorial worship service on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 9:15 a.m. McEntire, the younger sister of country music singer Reba McEntire, was raised on an Oklahoma ranch. She began singing as a teenager with her siblings, Pake and Reba. After graduating from Oklahoma State University, McEntire continued singing with her country superstar sister. The board of directors for the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation includes five at-large regional positions. The northeast, southeast, central, northwest and southwest areas of Oklahoma are each represented by an at-large board member. The latest issue of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Oklahoma Country magazine arrived in mailboxes this week and is now available online for electronic viewing. The Fall 2016 issue features Sen. Ron Justice, a longtime friend to agriculture during his 12 years in the state legislature. Country music singer Moe Bandy will entertain Oklahoma Farm Bureau members at the 2016 Annual Meeting following the OKFB banquet at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Members can purchase banquet tickets for $32 in the trade show area of the convention center. OKFB hosts State Question 777 educational event in Norman
Oklahoma Farm Bureau helped educate voters in Norman about State Question 777, the Right to Farm amendment, at the organization’s “Get on Tap with 777” event Sept. 22 at McNellie’s Abner Ale House in Norman. If approved by Oklahoma voters on Nov. 8, SQ 777 will give Oklahoma farmers and ranchers constitutional protection. Bushels for Books applications due Oct. 24
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation Bushels for Books applications are now available.
