Farmers and ranchers gathered at the 2019 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Leadership Conference on Feb. 18-19 will have an opportunity to hear from Oklahoma’s newly-appointed Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur. Arthur was appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt in mid-December. A Payne County Farm Bureau member, she most recently served as Oklahoma 4-H Foundation executive director. She previously served as deputy commissioner of agriculture from 2012 to 2016. Oklahoma Farm Bureau members ages 18 to 35 are invited to attend the organization’s Young Famers and Ranchers Legislative Day held Feb. 18 in Oklahoma City. The event is an opportunity for YF&R members to network with one another, learn about Farm Bureau policy, and promote agriculture and rural Oklahoma at the state Capitol. Oklahoma Farm Bureau leaders from across the state will gather in Oklahoma City Feb. 18-19 for the organization’s annual OKFB Leadership Conference. Held at the Embassy Suites Hotel near downtown Oklahoma City, the two-day conference will feature state and federal agricultural policy updates, organizational updates, a reception with state leaders and lawmakers, a visit to the state Capitol and more. Oklahoma County donates to food bank
Oklahoma County Farm Bureau this week donated $2,000 to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma for its Seeds of Hope program. The program provides Oklahomans on a limited income with seeds to plant and produce their own healthy fruits and vegetables. OKFB thanks USDA for reopening all FSA offices
Oklahoma Farm Bureau today praises U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue for his work to meet the needs of farmers and ranchers by reopening Farm Service Agency offices across Oklahoma. The annual trip provides members a unique opportunity to promote the concerns and needs of agriculture and rural Oklahoma as they meet directly with lawmakers and federal agency leaders in our nation’s Capitol. YF&R to award nine $1,000 college scholarships
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is now accepting applications for its annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student. Rodd Moesel re-elected to AFBF board
Delegates at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th Annual Convention re-elected Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Rodd Moesel to serve a two-year term on the AFBF board of directors. Moesel will represent AFBF’s southern region which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Also representing the southern region on the board are Jeff Aiken, Tennessee; Ronnie Anderson, Louisiana; Russell Boening, Texas; Gerald Long, Georgia; Mike McCormick, Mississippi; and Larry Wooten, North Carolina. OKFB applauds USDA’s limited opening of FSA offices
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is thanking United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue for providing a limited opening of Farm Service Agency offices in Oklahoma to assist agricultural producers with existing farm loans during the limited government shutdown. The USDA announced Wednesday that some FSA offices will be open to provide specific, limited services on January 17, 18 and 22. The USDA also announced FSA staff may sign checks made jointly out to FSA and farmers “as an intermittent incidental duty” according to the USDA.
