As you return from your spring break, know that things are going well at the Oklahoma Capitol. We passed our Right to Farm amendment, authored by Rep. Scott Biggs, out of the house on March 11. This bill passed 84 to 6, and we want to thanks Rep. Biggs for all the work he did to get that bill though the house. Moesel to receive Governor’s Outstanding Achievement Award in Agriculture
The Governor’s Outstanding Achievement Award in Agriculture will be presented during a special ceremony on March 26, 2014, to Rodd Moesel of Oklahoma City. Moesel will be the 17th Oklahoman to be inducted into the Agriculture Hall of Fame by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry. Farm transition workshops to be held in Oklahoma
A series of one-day workshops will be held throughout Oklahoma this spring for family farmers and ranchers interested in learning about the components of a successful farm transition. Managing Farm Transitions: Connecting Landowners, Farmers, and Families will involve four single-day workshops in Oklahoma scheduled for March 24 in Chickasha, March 31 in Claremore, April 7 in Woodward and April 14 in Ardmore. YF&R 2014 Spring Tour dates, schedule announced
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers have announced the schedule for the group’s 2014 Spring Tour, which will be held April 25 – 26 in northeast Oklahoma. This two-day event is an opportunity for YF&R members to explore the diverse agricultural commodities produced in Oklahoma. The 2014 tour is scheduled for northeastern Oklahoma, with stops including the Port of Catoosa and Moore’s Fish Farm. OKFB Congressional Action Tour set for April 6-10
The OKFB Congressional Action Tour is scheduled for April 6-10, 2014, in Washington, D.C. This tour gives members an opportunity to visit with legislators about issues of importance to rural Oklahoma. On this trip, members will hear from American Farm Bureau on issues of importance to agriculture along with visiting Congressional Representatives and Senators. The trip also features a President’s Welcome Reception and a Legislative Reception at the House Agriculture Committee. Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. To celebrate 100 years of the world’s largest junior livestock show, the Oklahoma Youth Expo is preparing a commemorative book highlighting the Expo’s history and contribution to Oklahoma and its youth. OKFB Women’s Leadership Team donates $3,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities
The OKFB Women’s Leadership Team donated $3,000 in food products to the Ronald McDonald House of Oklahoma City and the Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa, Feb. 11 and Feb. 12, as part of the new AFBF Our Food Link initiative. The members also cooked and served a meal for the families staying in the Oklahoma City location. Our Food Link is a year-round program that county and state Farm Bureaus use to provide consumers of all ages and backgrounds with information about today’s agriculture. This includes helping people connect with sources of clothing, food, shelter and energy in their communities. […]
