OFB Major Buyer At 2002 Tulsa State Fair Jr. Livestock Auction

Oklahoma Farm Bureau & Affiliated Companies was a major buyer at the 2002 Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Premium Auction Oct. 4.

The state’s largest farm organization purchased 22 of the prize-winning animals that made the annual premium auction. Farm Bureau was recognized with the 2001 Volume Buyer Award, marking the second consecutive year the organization was the buyer of the largest number of animals in the sale.

The exhibitors of the prize-winning animals Farm Bureau purchased were:
ø Carla Church of Sentinel for a market steer.
ø Lacey Deatherage of Fairland for a market steer.
ø Brianna Smith of Westville for a market steer.
ø Megan Maxson of Miami for a market steer.
ø Cheyenne Allen of Newcastle for a market steer.
ø Amber Roberts of Afton for a market steer.
ø Jerod Dow of Waukomis for a market steer.
ø Clayton Smith of Elgin for a market steer.
ø Jeremy Campbell of Tuttle for a market hog.
ø Timber Eaton of Tuttle for a market hog.
ø Shannon Rose of Alva for a market hog.
øGreg Hargis of Ringwood for a market steer.
ø Jaci Eversole of Grandfield for a market steer.
ø Kylie Deatherage of Ottawa for a market steer.
ø Korey Schenk of Chickasha for a market steer.
ø Dustin McDaniel of Vinita for a market lamb.
ø Kashen Urban of Navajo for a market lamb.
ø Jo Dee Rexwinkle of Barnsdall for a market lamb.
ø Kaylee Lindsey of Tonkawa for a market lamb.
ø Nathanael Quinn of Sweetwater for a market lamb.
ø Chelsey McCune of Mooreland for a market hog.
ø Keith Plummer of Hollis for a market steer.

In addition to being a major buyer at the premium auction, Oklahoma Farm Bureau also sponsored the state livestock judging contest held Oct. 4 at the Tulsa State Fair. The state’s largest farm organization annually awards a $750 check to the team that earns the right at the Tulsa contest to represent Oklahoma at the National Western Livestock Show Judging Contest in Denver, Colo.

A team from Yukon FFA received the $750 this year. Members of the team were Amanda Herren, Justin Brower, Austin Horn and Clint Petigrew. The four will travel to Colorado next January to represent the state in the national contest.
