OFB Holds Livestock Judging Contest at State Fair

Almost 600 youngsters participated in the 12th annual Oklahoma Farm Bureau-sponsored Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Sept. 28 in Oklahoma City.

The contest gave youngsters the opportunity to test their judging skills on cattle, swine and sheep while competing for $2,000 worth of prizes plus plaques and ribbons.

Results in the senior 4-H division, which was for 4-H members 14 and older, were:

• Teams: McCurtain County’s (Valliant 4-H) Courtney Coffman, Jake Mullens, Sabrina Meeks and Chelsea Coffman, first; Kay County’s Gayle Buellsefeld, Salye Bersman, Justin McMurtrie and Ross Kubik, second; and Washita County’s (Canute 4-H) Kylie Kupksa, Caittyn Goss, Nathan Merz and Cade Adams, third.

• Individual: Washita County’s (Canute 4-H) Nathan Merz, first; Caddo County’s (Hinton 4-H) Brent Womack, second; and McCurtain County’s (Valliant 4-H) Courtney Coffman, third.

Results in the junior 4-H division, which was for 4-H members 13 and under, were:

• Teams: McClain County’s (Newcastle 4-H) Colton Wynne, Levi Moyers, Brady Ward and Cheyenne Allen, first; Kingfisher County’s (Kingfisher 4-H) Kenzie Clifton, Kari Wendt, Chelsea Clifton and Darin Annuschat, second; and Woodward County’s (Mooreland Jr. 4-H) Betty Sowell, Brooke M., Countney Hargis, and Jennifer Sharp, third.

• Individuals: McClain County’s (Newcastle 4-H) Colton Wynne, first; McClain County’s (Newcastle 4-H) Brody Ward, second; and Kingfisher County’s (Kingfisher 4-H) Chelsea Clifton, third.

Results in the senior FFA division, which was for FFA members in the 11th and 12th grades, were:

• Teams: Minco’s Adam Locke, Matt Sandidge, Chaste Brassfield and Logan Ford, first; Elgin’s Ginger Peausen, Cassidy Pillow and Chase Turner, second; and Elgin’s Clayton Smith, Catie Sims, Chelsey Seibold and Cody Melton, third.

• Individuals: Minco’s Chase Brassfield, first; Elgin’s Catie Sims, second; and Perkins-Tryon’s Brent Sadler, third.

Results in the junior FFA division, which was for FFA members in the 8th through 10th grades, were:

• Teams: Tuttle’s Luke Eaton, Hannah Gregory, Erin Way and Jeremy Campbell, first; Tecumseh’s Dodge Nichols, Mallory Jones, Stormi Topping and Nick Pope, second; and Purcell’s Jeremy Jackson, Randon Hammond, Terence Doty and Caleb Hanan, third.

• Individuals: Reydon’s Randall Parman, first; Maysville’s Skylar York, second; and Tuttle’s Erin Way, third.
