A fourth version of the Lesser Prairie-Chicken Range-Wide Conservation Plan is now complete. The RWP is an effort by the state fish and wildlife agencies of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to conserve the LPC with the intent to preclude the need to list the species as threatened or endangered under the ESA.
In the event it is listed as a federally protected species, this plan provides a timely pathway to delisting. Click here to see a copy of the RWP plan.
Also, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will be holding an informational meeting on the RWP on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The meeting will be held at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation’s Arcadia Conservation Education Center, located near Edmond, Okla.
The morning part of the meeting will focus on the impact or debit side, created by industry, including oil and gas. The afternoon will focus on the conservation or credit side, provided by landowners. This meeting is open to landowners and anyone else that would like to attend.
