In keeping with the state’s Centennial theme, more than 1,000 Oklahoma agricultural leaders will join Oklahoma Farm Bureau in "Celebrating 100 Years of Oklahoma Agriculture" during the organization’s annual convention Nov. 9-11 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
“This has been a challenging year, but just like Oklahoma farmers and ranchers have always done, we’ve found a way to succeed,” said Steve Kouplen, Oklahoma Farm Bureau president.
The Beggs rancher is finishing his eighth and final year leading the state’s largest farm organization. Farm Bureau by-laws limit the president to four, two-year terms. Voting delegates will select a new leader during the business session Nov. 10.
Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas has been invited to give the keynote address during the opening session Nov. 9.
Other convention highlights include seminars on the 2007 farm bill and grain and livestock market forecasts, and the announcement of OFB’s Farm Family of the Year and Distinguished Service Awards. OFB members attending the convention will have the opportunity to win power tools and other items useful on the farm and ranch. The items are donated by Grainger, and other companies providing benefits to OFB members.
The state’s young farmers and ranchers will receive due recognition as they compete for the annual awards in achievement, excellence and discussion.
This year marks the 66th time Oklahoma Farm Bureau members have gathered for their annual convention.
