The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will host its annual discussion meet at the organization’s annual convention Nov. 10-12 in Norman, Oklahoma. The discussion meet is designed to replicate a committee meeting in which all participants are expected to discuss and actively contribute. Participants are evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic in three rounds of debate-style discussion. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers hosted more than 1,000 agriculture students during their annual State Fair livestock judging contest Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, in Oklahoma City. YF&R to host annual livestock judging contest at the Oklahoma State Fair
Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers committee will host students from across the state at the group’s annual Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest on Sept. 14 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 14 in Barn 3. The contest will begin at 10 a.m. in Barn 8. Contestants may compete on a team or as individuals. Emile Mittelstaed of Amber-Pocasset High School was named the winner of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers high school discussion meet held Tuesday, July 18, in Stillwater. Held in conjunction with Oklahoma State University’s Big Three Field Days, the event attracted 15 competitors from across the state. More than 30 young agriculturalists gathered in the Ardmore area for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers summer conference held July 13-15. Twelve high school seniors from across the state were recently selected to attend the Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference June 14-16. Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee has released a preliminary schedule of events for the group’s leadership conference July 13-15 in Ardmore. The conference will include sessions and workshops at the Holiday Inn as well as on-site tours in the Ardmore-area, including Oklahoma Steel and Wire Company, the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery and the Sam Noble Research Institute in Ardmore.
