The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will host its 16th Annual YF&R Golf Classic on Friday, May 4 at the Cedar Valley Golf Club in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Proceeds of the event will benefit the OKFB Legal Foundation, which defends the rights of Oklahoma farmers and ranchers. Check-in for the annual scramble-style tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. with tee off at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, along with awards for longest drive and closest to the hole. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee has extended the deadline for applications for its annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Applications now must be postmarked by no later than March 20, 2018. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student. YF&R to host legislative day March 4-5
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members ages 18 to 35 are invited to attend the Young Famers and Ranchers Legislative Day held March 4 and 5 in Oklahoma City. The event is an opportunity for YF&R members to network with one another, learn about Farm Bureau policy, and promote agriculture and rural Oklahoma at the state Capitol. Rachel Pickens of Payne County Farm Bureau recently was appointed to serve on the American Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. Three members of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers program will represent Oklahoma in national YF&R contests at the American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting Jan. 5-10 in Nashville, Tennessee. Dell Farris was named the winner of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture Award on Nov. 10 at the 2017 OKFB Annual Meeting in Norman, Oklahoma. The award recognizes successful young adults ages 35 years or younger who are involved in farming, but whose primary occupations are not farming or owning an agricultural business.
