OKFB YF&R announce winners of 2016 YF&R scholarships

YF&R Golf Classic to be held May 6 near Watonga
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their 14th annual YF&R Golf Classic Friday, May 6th at Roman Nose Golf Course near Watonga. The annual scramble-style tournament opens with check-in at 9 a.m., and golfers will tee off at 10 a.m. Several prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be provided. All proceeds from the event will be given to support State Question 777, the Right to Farm. Registration is being accepted now through April 29th for teams and individuals. YF&R name high school discussion meet winner
Piper Merritt of Owasso, Oklahoma, was the winner of the high school discussion meet held by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers. Dalton Miller, Joseph Pfeiffer, Katie Symes and Parker Terrell were the other four finalists. The contest was held in conjunction with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau 74th Annual Meeting Nov. 13-15 in Oklahoma City. OKFB to host Flapjack Fundraiser at annual meeting
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is proud to host the Flapjack Fundraiser at its annual meeting on Nov. 14 at 7:30 a.m. in the Cox Convention Center. Proceeds from the breakfast will go to the Bushels for Books Program, a partnership between the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation and the OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers. The program will provide bushel baskets full of accurate agriculture books to teachers from five Oklahoma schools. Students participate in state livestock judging contest
More than 900 students participated in the Sept. 17 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest, sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers. Contest participants analyzed classes of beef, goats, sheep and swine and ranked the animals based on correct market characteristics. “It’s such a good thing for the kids,” said Zac Harris, state YF&R chairman. “It’s also a good thing for Farm Bureau, too. The 2015 Oklahoma State Fair livestock judging contest, sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers, will be held Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. in Barn 3 at Oklahoma State Fair Park. The contest will consist of market beef, goats, sheep and swine and/or breeding classes. 4-H juniors include ages nine through 14 and FFA juniors include grades eight, nine and 10. Young farm and ranch leaders flock to Stillwater for annual meeting
Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers held their annual conference July 10-11 in Stillwater, where more than 50 young agriculturalists gathered to learn about agriculture, expand their leadership capabilities and make connections. The group of young leaders from around the state heard from a variety of presenters on a wide range of agricultural topics during the two-day event. Preliminary YF&R summer conference schedule released
Note: The final conference schedule has been added below Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee has released a preliminary schedule of events for the group’s summer conference July 10-11 in Stillwater. The conference will be held at the Best Western Cimarron Hotel & Suites. The conference will include workshops at the hotel as well as on-site tours in the Stillwater area. Registration for the conference is $25 per person. Registration plus a hotel room for one night at the host hotel is $150. OKFB trains Oklahoma youth in agriculture, leadership
The Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference was held at the OKFB home office June 10-12. The conference is a three-day event hosted by OKFB’s Young Farmers and Ranchers. Participants of the conference were high school seniors selected through an application process. The students selected represent some of Oklahoma’s most promising high school agriculturalists.
