Farm Bureau women award AITC teacher of the year with trip to Arizona
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee presented Amber Bales, Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom’s 2016 teacher of the year, with a sponsorship for Bales to attend the national AITC conference to be held June 20-24 in Arizona. Kitty Beavers, OKFB WLC chairman, along with Marcia Irvin, WLC coordinator, presented the award during Ag Day at the Capitol Wednesday, March 30 in Oklahoma City. AFBF seeks farmer input on data usage through March 31

 The American Farm Bureau Federation recently launched an online survey to collect feedback from farmers about farm data. The survey, which is open to all farmers and ranchers, will help gauge progress on big data issues and give some important insight into new issues. When Farm Bureau conducted a similar survey on big data in September 2014, nearly 3,400 farmers responded. Farmers and ranchers will head to Washington, D.C., April 10–14 to represent the agricultural industry during the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Congressional Action Tour. An online survey – http://usdaprograms.questionpro.com/ – launched by the American Farm Bureau Federation will collect feedback from farmers and ranchers about their experiences with 10 Agriculture Department programs housed in three agencies. Results will be used by AFBF to develop recommendations on how USDA can enhance its programs and make them more useful to farmers and ranchers. Oklahoma House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee approves bills affecting agriculture
The Oklahoma House of Representatives Agriculture and Rural Development Committee today considered and approved several key bills affecting the agricultural industry. Each of the below bills now are available for consideration by the full House chamber. HB 2250, coauthored by Rep. Brian Renegar and Rep. John Enns, prohibits animal rights charitable organizations from raising funds inside Oklahoma for political purposes outside or inside the state. The bill passed out of committee unanimously.
