Rural women leaders from across the state will be gathering in Norman Dec. 5-6 for the annual Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Rally. The conference will be held at the Sooner Legends Inns and Suites. “This is an educational as well as a social opportunity for rural women,” said Clara Wichert, Fairview, Chairperson of the OFB Women’s Committee. Following a kick-off luncheon on Friday there will be a series of mini sessions on health care, public policy and media relations. Farm Bureau Delegates Voice Support For Renewable Energy
Voting delegates at the 67th annual meeting of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau reaffirmed the organization’s position on several major issues during the business session of the convention. Delegates said they will continue to support renewable fuels. This stance was made despite a proposal to dilute the support in an attempt to ease the pressure of higher feed costs for livestock producers. Noble County’s Scott and Carol Dvorak were named Oklahoma Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year Nov. 14 at the 67th annual state convention in Oklahoma City. A panel of judges selected the Perry family from 14 entries in the annual contest, which honors the farm family who best represents farming and ranching and the spirit of Oklahoma agriculture. Payne County’s Scott Storey was recognized with Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s YF&R Excellence in Agriculture Award Nov. 14 at the 67th annual convention in Oklahoma City. The award recognizes successful young people 35 or younger who are involved in farming but whose primary occupations are not farming or owning an agricultural business. Farm Bureau asks governor to endorse renewable energy plan
The state’s largest farm organization wants Governor Brad Henry to endorse the “25 by ‘25” renewable energy initiative supported by Farm Bureau. State Youth Compete In Farm Bureau Livestock Judging Contest
More than 480 4-H and FFA members participated in the 18th annual Oklahoma Farm Bureau-sponsored Young Farmers & Ranchers Livestock Judging Contest held Sept. 12 during the State Fair of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. The contest gave youngsters the opportunity to test their judging skills on cattle, swine, sheep and goats. Winners received prizes of ribbons and plaques, and the first place winners received jackets. The top three teams and individuals in each division are listed below.
