County Farm Bureau offices across Oklahoma are once again serving as food donation drop off locations for Gov. Fallin’s fourth annual Feeding Oklahoma Food Drive, Oct. 1-31. The farm group is also encouraging its members and the public to help pick sweet potatoes Oct. 25, at a farm near Albert, Okla., in Caddo County. Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently debuted its newest audio feature, All Around Oklahoma Agriculture, which provides a unique perspective on the state’s agriculture industry. Lesser-Prairie Chicken Range-Wide Conservation Plan complete; meeting on Sept. 17
A fourth version of the Lesser Prairie-Chicken Range-Wide Conservation Plan is now complete. The RWP is an effort by the state fish and wildlife agencies of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to conserve the LPC with the intent to preclude the need to list the species as threatened or endangered under the ESA. OKFB announces vice president of field services
Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently named Holly Carroll vice president of field services. In her new position, Carroll will lead OKFB field representatives as they serve as liaisons between the counties and the state Farm Bureau. The Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation, in conjunction with Oklahoma Farm Bureau, announced today a $100,000 donation to help install storm shelters in Oklahoma schools. Rep. Mark McBride and Rep. Landowners invited to attend lesser prairie chicken strategy meeting
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is hosting a meeting for landowners and other interested parties regarding a stakeholder conservation strategy for the lesser prairie chicken. The meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Seminar Center at the High Plains Technology Center in Woodward. The meeting is open to the public. The stakeholder conservation strategy will provide a market-based response to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s proposal to list the lesser prairie chicken as a “threatened” species under the Endangered Species Act and will show how the need for continued energy production translates into a mitigation need. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau corporate communications and public relations team received eight national awards during the American Farm Bureau Public Relations Conference in Portland, Ore., June 24-27.
