Oklahoma Farm Bureau presented Garvin County with the Lewis H. Munn Farm Bureau Builders Award during the OKFB 73rd Annual Convention on Nov. 14 in Tulsa. The award is named after the second president of Oklahoma Farm Bureau, and each year a specific area of involvement is judged for the award. This year’s area was political education. Garvin County established a committee to develop areas of political education that would benefit not only Farm Bureau members but also the general public. OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers name high school discussion meet winner
Seth McLaughlin of Prague was the winner of the first high school discussion meet held by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers. Kalee Horn, Edmond; Summer Stevens, Perry; and Camy Daniel, Amber-Pocasset, were the other three finalists. Oklahoma Farm Bureau submits comments on proposed WOTUS rule
Oklahoma Farm Bureau submitted comments today in response to the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed rule to define “waters of the United States” under the Clean Water Act. OKFB fire safety trailer saves lives
A recent house fire in rural Beckham County proved the value of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s fire safety training when 11-year-old Aiden Brown put into practice what he had learned during a demonstration at his school. The fifth grader, and his 7-year-old sister Abigail, had just returned home from school when Aiden discovered the fire and quickly made sure his sister was safely outside when he alerted the fire department. OKFB leaders pass resolutions on water, wind energy, EPA and USDA
Resolutions to study water transportation in Oklahoma, support wind energy and stop federal agency over regulation were among resolutions passed by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau state resolutions committee during their two-day meeting Oct. 21-22 in Norman. Oklahoma Farm Bureau will be hosting a tailgate on Saturday, Oct. 25, for U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe to celebrate America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration at Oklahoma State University. Peterson Farm Brothers to entertain at OKFB Convention
The Peterson Farm Brothers, young agriculture enthusiasts and expert parody song writers, will entertain Oklahoma Farm Bureau members at the 2014 Annual Meeting in Tulsa on Saturday, Nov. 15. Greg, Nathan and Kendal Peterson make up the Peterson Farm Brothers trio. The siblings farm together with their parents near Assaria, Kansas, where they raise beef cattle and grow wheat, corn, alfalfa, milo and soybeans. Oklahoma Farm Bureau partners with governor’s food drive
County Farm Bureau offices across Oklahoma are once again serving as drop-off locations for Gov. Mary Fallin’s fifth annual Feeding Oklahoma Drive. The goal of the food and fund drive is to raise enough food and funds to provide 2 million meals to help feed families, children and seniors in the state.
