OKFB Foundation for Agriculture, WLC donate ag books to educators

Fourteen Oklahoma educators from across the state were awarded a basket of agriculture books for their classrooms during Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 77th Annual Meeting held Nov. 16-18 in Norman, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, alongside the OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee, sponsored this year’s Bushels for Books program. Bree Kisling earns $1,000 scholarship for Ag in the Classroom work

Chisholm High School senior Bree Kisling recently was awarded a $1,000 college scholarship through the Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture Ag in the Classroom Scholarship Challenge by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the organization’s annual meeting in Norman. She earned the scholarship for her work to teach local students in her community about Oklahoma agriculture. During a visit to Chisholm Elementary School, Kisling taught pre-kindergarteners a lesson based on the book, The Little Red Hen. Farm Bureau members set policy for 2019

Extension services, the agriculture sales tax exemption and feral hogs were issues prioritized by Oklahoma Farm Bureau members as they worked to set the organization’s 2019 policy on Saturday, Nov. 17 during the OKFB annual meeting in Norman, Oklahoma.  All 77 county Farm Bureaus submitted resolutions to the OKFB policy book which were reviewed by a statewide committee and voted on by the delegate body during the annual meeting. Oklahoma Farm Bureau members from all 77 counties met in Norman, Oklahoma, Nov. 16-18 for the organization’s 77th annual meeting where they recognized outstanding members with numerous awards, set organizational policy for the coming year, and elected new leaders. Texas County Farm Bureau was honored with Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Lewis H. Munn Award on Saturday, Nov. 17 during the organization’s 77th Annual Meeting in Norman, Oklahoma.  Also known as the Farm Bureau Builders Award, the award is presented each year to the county that conducts the strongest program in a chosen area. Washita County couple named OKFB’s top young farmers and ranchers

Nocona and Jordan Cook were named Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award Winners at the organization’s 2018 annual meeting on Saturday, Nov. 17 in Norman, Oklahoma. The Cooks received the recognition for their dedication as young agriculturalists, raising cattle and growing wheat, hay, cotton and other crops in western Oklahoma’s Washita County. Johnston County member wins YF&R Excellence in Agriculture Award

Joshua Anderson of Mannsville was honored with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture Award on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the organization’s annual meeting in Norman. Emma Jumper of Payne County was named the 2018 Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet winner on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 77th Annual Meeting in Norman, Oklahoma. Jumper competed against eight other participants in three rounds of debate-style discussion where performance was evaluated on the exchange of ideas and information on pre-determined topics. County Farm Bureaus were recognized for excellence during Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 77th Annual Meeting Nov. 17 in Norman, Oklahoma.  Each year, OKFB recognizes the county Farm Bureaus that have excelled in program areas such as membership, public policy, local affairs, service to members, Women’s Leadership Committee and Young Farmers and Ranchers with a Presidential Star Award. Alfalfa, Comanche, Garfield, Noble, Okmulgee and Payne County Farm Bureaus each received the Six-Star Presidential Award for excelling in six program areas.
