Oklahoma Farm Bureau today praises U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue for his work to meet the needs of farmers and ranchers by reopening Farm Service Agency offices across Oklahoma. YF&R to award nine $1,000 college scholarships
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is now accepting applications for its annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student. Rodd Moesel re-elected to AFBF board
Delegates at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th Annual Convention re-elected Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Rodd Moesel to serve a two-year term on the AFBF board of directors. Moesel will represent AFBF’s southern region which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Also representing the southern region on the board are Jeff Aiken, Tennessee; Ronnie Anderson, Louisiana; Russell Boening, Texas; Gerald Long, Georgia; Mike McCormick, Mississippi; and Larry Wooten, North Carolina. OKFB applauds USDA’s limited opening of FSA offices
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is thanking United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue for providing a limited opening of Farm Service Agency offices in Oklahoma to assist agricultural producers with existing farm loans during the limited government shutdown. The USDA announced Wednesday that some FSA offices will be open to provide specific, limited services on January 17, 18 and 22. The USDA also announced FSA staff may sign checks made jointly out to FSA and farmers “as an intermittent incidental duty” according to the USDA. Oklahoma Farm Bureau was honored with four Awards of Excellence at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th Annual Convention held Jan. 11-16 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The awards recognized excellence in implementation of outstanding member programs and membership achievement in 2018. The Awards of Excellence were awarded to state Farm Bureaus that demonstrated outstanding achievements in four program areas. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers members will compete in three competitive events at the upcoming American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting Jan. 11-16 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Schwabauer named OKFB publications coordinator
Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently hired Brianne Schwabauer as the publications coordinator within the farm organization. In her position, she will assist with both design and production of OKFB’s written publications, lay out print marketing materials, take photos, produce graphic designs for visual aids, and provide additional support for written content. “Growing up in the Farm Bureau organization, I’ve seen first-hand what it can do for not only members, but their families as well,” Schwabauer said. “I’m looking forward to being a part of that and sharing the unique stories of Oklahoma Farm Bureau members.” Schwabauer joins the OKFB staff after […]
