Oklahoma Farm Bureau is set to host “Get on Tap with 777” June 30 at 5 p.m. at TapWerk’s Ale House in Oklahoma City. At the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about State Question 777, or the Right to Farm bill. Guests will enjoy free appetizers and drinks. The event will also collect items of fresh produce to be donated to the City Rescue Mission. The bill is a state constitutional amendment to protect Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers by creating additional constitutional protections they currently lack and need. Nineteen of Oklahoma’s top 20 high school seniors spent three days learning about leadership, team building and agriculture at the fifth annual Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference, June 15-17, in Oklahoma City. On the Road with Ag in the Classroom
The Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom traveled to eastern Oklahoma for this year’s On the Road tour, June 14-16. On the tour, Oklahoma Farm Bureau joined teachers from around the state to learn more about agriculture and its impact in Oklahoma. The tour began with a stop at Dismukes’ Cattle Ranch in Checotah, where educators learned about the health benefits of eating beef. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee hosted its second-annual safety day June 3 at the OKFB home office in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issued the following statement in response to Gov. Mary Fallin’s veto of SB 1142, which would have eliminated all restrictions on the removal of feral hogs. “Oklahoma Farm Bureau is disappointed in Gov. Mary Fallin’s veto of SB 1142, which would have allowed landowners to remove feral hogs from their property at any time without a permit. “Feral hogs are an invasive species, and should be treated as such. OKFB Breaks Ground on 75th Anniversary Commemorative Courtyard
Oklahoma Farm Bureau broke ground to mark the beginning of the construction of the OKFB 75th Anniversary Commemorative Courtyard May 11. The courtyard, which will be installed at the OKFB home office in Oklahoma City, will commemorate 75 years of Oklahoma Farm Bureau while highlighting the county Farm Bureaus. The Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation is offering personalized brick pavers to individuals and businesses for a $100 donation. The pavers will provide the foundation for the courtyard.
