OKFB Foundation for Agriculture accepting donations for Louisiana producers affected by Hurricane Ida
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is gathering donations for Louisiana farmers and ranchers affected by Hurricane Ida. Making landfall exactly 16 years after Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ida is ranked in the top three strongest hurricanes to make landfall in Louisiana. As recovery efforts will last into the coming months, farmers and ranchers are in need of assistance, as much of the forage, grain and fencing was carried away by water and wind. Oklahoma Farm Bureau women from across the state are invited to join fellow Farm Bureau women for several events held in conjunction with the OKFB Annual Meeting Nov. 5-7. Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, all Farm Bureau women are welcome to gather for the OKFB WLC conference. Oklahoma Farm Bureau members ages 18 to 35 have the opportunity to participate in a variety of OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers competitive events during the organization’s annual meeting Nov. 5-7. OKFB and Oklahoma 4-H Progressive Agriculture Safety Day postponed
Due to scheduling conflicts, the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Oklahoma 4-H scheduled for Oct. 15 is postponed until the spring of 2022. Taking a look into the Build Back Better Act and methane taxes
As discussions of the Build Back Better Act, a $3.5 trillion Congressional reconciliation bill, have increased within the past week, Oklahoma Farm Bureau has been closely monitoring the progression of the bill and is working to ensure farmers and ranchers are not burdened with additional taxation or other negative economic consequences. The current version of the bill could impose a significant “fee” or tax on methane emissions on the oil and gas sector but does not include a tax on agriculture. OKFB joins ag, mineral groups to form Royalty Owner Coalition of Oklahoma
Oklahoma Farm Bureau joined four fellow agriculture and mineral owner groups this week to announce the formation of the Royalty Owner Coalition of Oklahoma, a non-profit corporation to create a structured, consistent and strong voice for the interests of Oklahoma mineral owners. Representing approximately 150,000 individual members, the founding organizations of ROCO include the National Association of Royalty Owners of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, American Farmers and Ranchers, Farmers Royalty Company and the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association.
