The Woods County Farm Bureau office is located in Alva, which is the county seat. Alva is the home of Northwestern Oklahoma State University (who are the 1999 National Football Champions), Northwest Vo-Tech Center, The Homestead Retirement Community, Value Added Products Mfg. and the Bill Johnson Correctional Center.
We are the gateway to the panhandle, and there are several tourist attractions within a few miles of Alva such as the Little Sahara State Park, Alabaster Caverns State Park and Great Salt Plains State Park. Alva also has three museums which are the Cherokee Strip Museum, NWOSU’s Historical Museum and the Aviation Museum at the airport.
Wheat and cattle lead the way for agriculture in Woods County. We support Waynoka, Freedom and Alva school systems, 4-H and FFA activities. We have a very active Women’s Committee for our county. They support Eddie Eagle Gun Safety, Outdoor Adventure, Food Check Off Day, Farm City Festival, pick up trash at the Alva Airport four times a year, plus many more activities. Come visit us – You’ll be glad you did!
