Custer County Farm Bureau sponsors teens to the OFB Summer Safety Camp/Outdoor Adventure each year, and supports the county 4-H programs with donations to the 4-H Dollars Program and the county Junior Livestock Show. Our county’s women’s committee is very active with the safety program, taking bus and bicycle safety seminars to all county schools.
The county’s top crops and livestock include wheat and cattle, but cotton is making a comeback, and sheep are increasing in number.
Custer County is home to the Route 66 Museum, Cheyenne Cultural Center, Mohawk Indian Store (oldest continuously operated in the state), Foss Lake, Washita Wildlife Refuge, Tom Stafford Museum, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
